How do I set up TrendBody with Apple Health?

When you first open TrendBody, it will ask for HealthKit permission to read and write weight data. Grant this permission to automatically import your existing weight history and receive new measurements from your smart scale. You can manage these permissions anytime in Settings > Privacy & Security > Health > TrendBody on your device.

What should I expect after my first weigh-in?

After your first weigh-in, TrendBody will show your initial data point. The trend line and confidence intervals become meaningful after 3-5 measurements. The caloric balance estimate and Body Clock features need 1-2 weeks of data to provide reliable results. Weigh yourself daily (or as often as comfortable) for the best experience.

Do I need to weigh myself at the same time every day?

No. TrendBody's Body Clock feature learns your personal daily weight rhythm and adjusts for time-of-day effects. While consistency helps, you can weigh yourself at any time — morning, evening, or whenever works for your routine.

Understanding Your Data

What is Steady Weight?

Steady Weight is TrendBody's estimate of your actual weight direction, calculated using the same math as spacecraft navigation. It separates the real signal (your weight trend) from daily noise (water, sodium, digestion, hormones). Think of it as your weight stripped of temporary fluctuations — the number that actually reflects your progress.

What does the weekly pace mean?

The weekly pace shows how fast your weight is changing per week based on your trend. A pace of -0.5 kg/week means your trend is moving downward at about half a kilogram per week. This is more reliable than comparing individual scale readings.

How does the energy balance work without food logging?

TrendBody uses a peer-reviewed equation from nutrition science to estimate your caloric surplus or deficit from your weight trend alone. As your trend moves, the equation calculates the energy imbalance required to produce that change, accounting for metabolic adaptation. You don't need to log food because your weight trend already reflects everything you eat and burn.

What is the Body Clock?

The Body Clock shows your personal daily weight pattern — how your weight typically varies throughout the day. Most people weigh less in the morning and more in the evening. TrendBody learns your specific pattern and uses it to improve trend accuracy regardless of when you weigh in.

Troubleshooting

My smart scale readings aren't appearing in TrendBody

Make sure your smart scale's companion app has HealthKit write access enabled for weight data. Check: Settings > Privacy & Security > Health > [your scale's app] > Body Mass should be toggled on for writing. Also verify: Health > TrendBody > Body Mass is toggled on for reading. After enabling permissions, new measurements should sync automatically.

My widget isn't updating

Widgets update on a system-managed schedule. Try removing and re-adding the widget. Make sure TrendBody has HealthKit permissions enabled. If the issue persists, open TrendBody once — this triggers a data refresh that the widget will pick up.

I see gaps in my trend line

Gaps occur when there are periods without weight measurements. The trend line can only interpolate across short gaps. For the best experience, try to weigh yourself at least 3-4 times per week. Missing a day or two is fine — the trend engine handles irregular measurement intervals gracefully.

How do I restore my purchase on a new device?

Open TrendBody on your new device, go to Settings, and tap 'Restore Purchase.' Make sure you're signed in with the same Apple ID used for the original purchase. The restore process verifies your purchase through the App Store.

Does Family Sharing work with TrendBody Pro?

Yes. TrendBody Pro supports Apple Family Sharing. If one family member purchases Pro, all members of the Family Sharing group can access Pro features. Each person's health data remains completely private — only the purchase is shared.
